(Honey Chipotle) Shrimp Gyro
Ingredients
• 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
• 1 tbsp hot sauce (for marinade)
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• Tony’s Creole seasoning (to taste)
• Nature’s Seasoning (to taste)
• 1/2 cup corn starch
• 1/2 cup flour
• Additional seasoning for dredge (Creole + Nature’s)
• Oil for frying
• Pita bread (for serving)
• Lettuce, tomato, red onion (sliced)
• Ranch dressing (or tzatziki as an optional topping)
For the Honey Chipotle Sauce
• 2–3 chipotle peppers in adobo
• 2 tbsp adobo sauce
• 2 tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
• 1 tbsp lime juice
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix hot sauce and buttermilk. Add shrimp and marinate for at least 20–30 minutes.
2. In a separate bowl, mix corn starch, flour, and a generous sprinkle of Tony’s and Nature’s seasoning.
3. Dredge marinated shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Fry shrimp until golden and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side). Set aside.
5. In a blender, combine chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, honey, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt. Blend until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness or heat if needed.
6. Warm pita bread. Layer with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Add fried shrimp on top.
7. Drizzle with ranch or tzatziki (optional) and finish with the honey chipotle sauce.
8. Serve warm and enjoy every bite!
